This is the SS 5/16 plate welded on to the pushpit for the upper bracket attachment. In this position the H bracket must be attached as low as possible aft of the plate to allow clearance of the main frame of the device.

I found that the fixed 40 degree angle of the lower bracket requires longer tubes or a diferent placement of the brackets on the hull

This is the attachment of the H bracket to the 5/16" stainless plate. I originally fabricated a 1/4" UHMW gasket between the bracket and plate. This made for a tight fit between the top pulpit rail and the hydrovane main gear works. I removed it and used Lamosil between the two metals. It is possible to insert a 1/8" gasket and even 1/4" especially if you place the gear works completely above the pulpit rail. My installation placed it lower and I believe well protected by the rail.
