Packing- HC-33

Steve, The packing is dripping a little now when the shaft is turning after a brief “break-in” period. It does not drip when still.

As I understand it, Gore-Tex is a second generation Teflon packing. It is made from Teflon fibers (or Teflon coated fibers) woven into a braid. It replaces the older Teflon impregnated flax. It was highly recommended by the Yard guys, and the only kind of packing they use now.

So far , I'm happy

I'll look into it next time we haul out. I think it's good that a little dripping occurs when the shaft is turning...
