We are in the process of replacing all of our Chainplates bolts on our 1985 38T. Plates look good, but bolts are slightly corroded. We are running into several problems: first, the holes are drilled at an angle to make the carriage bolts flush with the hull, but at the end where the bolts enters the cabin, the bolt has been bent to make the capnut flush to the Chainplates. This makes it extremely difficult to remove. Anyone have this trouble? Or is that normal? We decided too be to hex head bolts, as we are in La Paz, Mexico and don't have access to carriage bolts. Thoughts? What are people using for bedding? Our best options now is getting a wedge washer to make the but flush to the plate. Anyone run into these issues?
