Value of Hans Christian 48

We have owned our Hans Christian 48 for 23 years and still love her. Right now we have an issue with our insurance company with the insured value of the boat. They want a new survey to support the value that we would like of $400,000. We have talked to a few surveyors and they say it might be a problem because values are so low right now. Does anyone have an info that might help? Currently we are in Panama and pictures can be seen at www.getjealous.com/liward

Insurance companies tend to differentiate between "Current Market Value" and "Replacement Value"
The surveyors are referring to the market value, whereas what you are looking for is the replacement value ( or as referred to earlier: Agreed Value ).
Some insurance companies will accept an Agreed Value, subject to a current survey ( they do want to have an idea of what they are insuring ) and increased insurance premiums ( they however do not "over-insure", i.e. the difference between the actual value of the yacht and the replacement value.
You could shop around at a couple of insurance companies.
