Chain Plate Removal

Hello All,

I want to remove my chain plates. I read the other story and have a suspicion that my plates and bolts are ready to fail also.

My 48 is a ketch so I have more than usual.

The problem is that from the inside they look like they have been glassed in. Is this correct?

Do I remove the teak arount the gunnels to get to them?
Or do I cut them out from the inside - which would require cutting through the glass lay up that is around the top of them?
