Builder of 48 in 1990

Postby ballymack » Thu Oct 13, 2011 4:39 am

Does anyone know who the builder of the 48T might have been in 1990? I am being asked the question for an offshore race. I believe the boats were made in Thailand at the time, but I understand there were a number of builders over the years.

Thanks,
Mike

Good question. I'm reasonably sure that your boat was built in Taiwan. I believe it was a few more years before production started up in Thailand (1996).

What's your hull number?

You doing Vic Maui?

Mimoza is the name of the Admiral, a flower, and a star - the eastern arm of the Southern Cross, also called Becrux.

Thanks. I will have to dig into that, but other sources telling me Taiwan likely location. Not sure how much it matters.

Yes, planning on the Vic-Maui.

You?
