I have the same engine and typically run at 2100 - 2250rpm for optimum fuel consumption . . . anymore RPM and with the marginal increase in speed becomes a large increase in fuel consumption . . if you look at the engine power curve in the engine manual this graph shows the "cruising" rpm range for best performance . . Blast from the past... I'm guessing these are the Mercedes 4.240 72hp models? Is there a way I could get a copy of said manual? I have this engine but no info on rpm and fuel consumption. Thanks!

I have a 1984 Merc 616 Nanni 4.240 72hp. Entirely rebuilt 2 years ago. I have workshop manual and the Nanni Parts catalogue. Let me know if you still need a copy. Mike
